Well, in less than a week’s time, we will know who the new Mayor of Christchurch will be! If you haven’t already, make sure that you fill in your voting forms and post them by Tuesday.
If you haven’t yet received your papers, you can request & complete a special vote: more information is available here.

It’s been a busy past seven days with a number of debates & media issues circulating. I’ve included a round-up of a few of these below. The common themes that emerge are the need for proven and experienced leadership – and governance – as our city faces some gnarly challenges ahead. We need to fund Te Kaha (the stadium), whilst keeping rates as low as possible. We need to take meaningful climate action, whilst looking after our communities.
We need to plan for the Christchurch of the future, whilst prioritising our people. To do all of these things, we are going to require a Council table that works collaboratively, constructively and cohesively. As Mayor, I will work to ensure that this is the case.
Thanks to everyone for their encouragement & words of support – the most important thing now is voting for experienced leadership for Christchurch.
Please, post your vote as soon as possible – and, encourage those around you to do so as well.
Ngā mihi
David.
