Connecting with communities is the most important thing that we can do – so, I welcome Phil Mauger’s announcement today that he’d establish a Community Forum if elected Mayor.
I believe that our community missed an opportunity when the Council (including Phil) didn’t support the proposed residents’ forum in 2020; I think we’d be further ahead today if he & his co-campaigners had been able to support that initiative at the time.
But, looking forward – let’s listen and let’s act…
This is why, when I announced my candidacy for Mayoralty, I included participatory budgeting as one of my key policies: because we need to both listen to our communities but also empower them to decide how a budget is allocated.
Local communities know what’s important to them – so, let’s make sure that we listen AND get results.
